NA & EU LCS Week 3: The Bot-lane overview

Both the European and North American LCS have played their Week 3 games and after all is said and done, it is time to take a look at some comparative statistics. We will dedicate this fourth and final article of the series to the bot-lane. First, let’s take a look at the supports. Thresh has managed once again to rule both regions and with 12 picks and 4 bans across both sides of the pond, he has achieved a flawless combined pick and ban rate of 100%. In second place, Morgana barely managed to squeeze ahead of Leona and the newest kid on the block, Nami with 6 picks and 4 bans. Apart from these four heroes, others also managed to play a small part in this week’s LCS episode, such as Sona or Edward’s Gragas in Europe and Zyra in North America.

Thresh also dominated the win-rate category with his combined 67% win-rate across both regions, shaping himself as the OP support of the week. In second place, Morgana, had a flawless run in Europe, but stumbled quite a bit in North America and only averaged a 50% win-rate overall, while in third place, Nami gathered a 40% win-rate across both regions. You can check the graph below for details about the champions performances per region.

As many of you already guessed, this week’s MVP is without a doubt, Thresh. The Chain Warden hooked himself another perfect combined pick and ban rate as well as an incredible win-rate, considering the amount of games he played across both regions. Here are the builds that the pros chose for Thresh and their respective performance with the champion. You can notice the 2 paths that a Thresh build can take, either with the Ancient Coin, for mid and late game pick-offs or escapes or the Relic Shield for a more powerful laning phase.

The AD-Carries suffer from the same lack of diversity as the previous weeks, even more than previous weeks actually, as the teams seem to have “tunnel-visioned” on the Lucian+Twitch pair and seldom picked something else. In fact, the interesting aspect when looking over the charts is that third option, that they go for when one of the two is unavailable. In Europe, Rekkles and crew prefer the Kog’maw while the North Americans give more credit to Corki. We will find out who made a better choice when we examine the win ratios of the two champions.

Twitch out-edged his fellow competitor, Lucian, this week and won the battle in both North America and Europe, averaging a win-rate of 70%, compared to Lucian’s 54%. These are win-rates across both regions, for the individual win-rates, please refer to the graphic below. In third place, Kog’maw managed to win two games in Europe out of the 4 he was played in and averaged a 50% win-rate, while over in North America, Corki could not feel the taste of victory at all.

Although Twitch secured his MVP spot for the week thanks to his incredible performances, we will not insist with ways to build him, they are pretty standard and you can find a build for him in the previous articles about AD-Carries, such as this one. For a better overview of the bot-lane and all the other sections of the map, be sure to check out our Analysis & Statistics section, where you will find all kind of graphs and interesting facts about your favorite pro players, teams and champions!

NA LCS Week 2: The AD-Carries overview

The second week of the summer split is over, but the analysis time has just begun! In this short article, we will take a closer look at the North American AD-Carries and their picks. Lucian dominated the scene once again, at least in the picks and bans stage, totaling a flawless 100% combined pick and ban rate. A long way behind The Purifier, Corki and Twitch share second place, with only a 50% combined pick and ban rate. As teams slowly moved away from Twitch due to him being pretty immobile, they gravitated towards some previous popular picks like Sivir, Caitlyn, Ezreal or Jinx. It’s very refreshing to see many champion names resurface and try to bounce back to form, a total of eight champions were used this week in NA, that’s twice as much as in Europe.

Corki is a very pleasant surprise this week when we look over the win-rates chart. He tops the standings with an impressive 75% win-rate, followed by Lucian, who had a very poor showing in NA (whereas in EU he had the best time in weeks) finishing the week at 40%. In third place, Kog’Maw only played two games and unfortunately for him, he lost them both and has to live with a 0% win-rate.

Even though he was used in only 4 games this week, Corki made quite an impact on the NA scene with his 75% win-rate and managed to secure himself the title of most relevant AD-Carry this week. Below are the builds that the pros chose for the Daring Bombardier and their respective performance with the champion.

EU LCS WEEK 2: The AD-Carries Overview

The second week of the summer split is over, but the analysis time has just begun! In this short article, we will take a closer look at the ad-carries and their picks. The fact that Lucian is still on top of the totem poll should not come as a surprise to anyone by now. The Purifier has gotten pretty comfortable in his throne for the last couple of weeks and only solidified his lead with his 100% pick-rate this week. In second place, Twitch has a combined pick and ban rate of 87% and is the only AD-Carry who has received bans against him (4). In third place, we find Kog’maw, who barely came ahead of Caitlyn with a 37% pick-rate, replacing the Sheriff of Piltover as the go to ad-carry for siege compositions. Due to him being extremely immobile, Kog’maw needs a specific team-composition to protect him once he becomes that unstoppable late game hyper-carry and that is not an easy thing to put together.

Lucian dominated the scene once again and achieved his highest win-rate in Europe since Week 10 of the Spring split, ending the week with a remarkable 62%. In second place, Caitlyn suffered the same fate as the player who wielded her, ending the week at 1-1. Genja (GMB) was the only AD-Carry to choose the Sheriff of Piltover, probably hoping for another Pentakill, like he did in the play-off game against CW last split. Finally, Twitch and Kog’Maw share third place with a 33% win-rate.

EU LCS win-rate ad-carries W2The top performer of the second week is without a doubt Lucian, who outdid himself once again and achieved a 100% pick-rate and his highest win-rate in a couple of weeks (62%). Here are the builds that the pros chose for the Purifier and their respective performance with the champion.

NA LCS Week 1: AD-Carries overview

The first super-week of the summer split is over and it is time to dig into some juicy statistics. In this short article we will take a look at the North American AD-Carries and their picks. Although Lucian was picked in 13 of the week’s 16 games, it was actually Twitch who was the only AD-Carry champion with a perfect combined pick and ban rate of 100%, totaling 8 picks and 8 bans. The Plague Rat and the Purifier were the only two champions to receive bans in the AD-Carry category and were considered by most players the go to champions. Whenever one of the two would be banned, the players would either default to a comfort pick (Vayne or Caitlyn) or go for an “odd-pick” (Draven, Kog’maw, Sivir or Miss Fortune). The only constant “odd-pick” throughout the week would be Corki. The Daring bombardier was the third most played AD-Carry, sadly with little to no success, as his scaling in the late game is sub-optimal.

Another impressive performance from Lucian in North America nets him a huge win-rate of 77%, despite having played the most games (13). Very impressive achievement from the Purifier, winning a total of 10 games and losing only 3. In second place, Twitch, did not fare so well managing to win only 3 out of the 8 matches he was involved in and finishing the week with a 37% win-rate. In third place, Corki had a rough week, being unable to win any games for his team and ending the week with 0/4.

This super-week’s performer was without a doubt Lucian and here are the builds that the pros chose for the Purifier and their respective performance with the champion. After building his three core items: Bloodthirster, Tri-Force and Last Whisper, they each had a different build-path in mind.

EU LCS Week 1: AD-Carries overview

The first super-week of the summer split is over and it is time to dig into some juicy statistics. In this short article we will take a look at the European AD-Carries and their picks. It is no surprise for anyone to notice Lucian being played in 15/16 games, however there was that one game between Fnatic and Copenhagen Wolves where the Danish power-house preferred to pick Graves instead of him to counter the already locked in Twitch from FNC. The Plagie Rat was thus the only AD-Carry with a perfect 100% combined pick and ban rate and because teams wanted to avoid playing against his immense late game scaling, they banned him out in 13 out of the 16 games this super-week. Adding insult to injury for the recently visually updated champion, he was the only AD-Carry to receive bans in Europe. With Twitch banned away for 81% of the games, the next comfort pick for the European ADCs was Graves, who packs a similar arsenal to Lucian, with a better late game scaling potential. Some “odd” picks like Kog’maw, Draven, Vayne or Caitlyn also got to spend some time on the Rift with mixed results. Players seem to have abandoned the likes of Jinx or Sivir for the time being.

We have done an exception for Twitch in regards to the 25% or more games played rule in order to appear in the win-rate chart and he managed to slip through the cracks with only three games played, because of his flawless 100% win-rate and his rapid ascension to the top of the AD-Carry totem poll. In second place we have Lucian with a very similar win-rate to the one he had in the play-offs of the last split, 53%. In third place, the second most played ADC, Graves did not fare so well, managing to win only 2 out of his 8 games.

As most of you already guessed by now, this week’s attraction was without a doubt Twitch. Not the popular streaming platform, which will be bought by Youtube for an estimate 1 billion dollars, but the witty Plague Rat, who most of us have grown quite fond of over the years. Here are the builds that the pros chose for him and their respective performance with the champion.

EU & NA LCS Spring play-off: AD-Carries picks and bans

Previous articles: Top-LaneJungle and Mid-lane

In the current meta, the AD-Carries are often overlooked when deciding what heroes to ban and as a result of that, only 7 bans were spent on AD-Carries in both EU and NA, that is less than 6% of the total number of bans. However, in the middle of this grim scenario, one man rises above all: Lucian. The Purifier was the target of more than half the bans in both regions and is almost always first picked by the purple team. Thanks to his lane-bullying abilities, his fast wave clear and great escape potential he is the go to pick for most of the ADCs on both sides of the pond. The only difference between EU and NA is who they chose to lane against Lucian, other than Caitlyn. Twitch and Jinx have become increasingly popular in Europe with the 1v2 meta, because they can get away with an easy laning phase and continue to scale in the late game, while over in North America, Corki and Graves are looking to challenge Lucian’s spot, but are no where near that at the moment with a sub-par win-rate of roughly 20%.

EU & NA LCS picks & bans ad-carries

For a better understanding, let’s break it down for the two regions individually. First off, in Europe, Lucian managed to miss out on one game coming just short of a perfect pick and ban rate at 95%. The only game where he wasn’t picked or banned was the first game of the semi-final series, between SK Gaming and Roccat, where the two teams opted for Jinx and Vayne. Ironically, this was the only game where Vayne could be seen in the EU LCS play-offs this week, instead the likes of Jinx and Twitch got a bit more attention from the pros, just in the nick of time for Twitch’s recent VU. The numbers don’t lie though and despite Lucian being incredibly popular, his win-rate was not that impressive (47%) when compared to the likes of Twitch (80%) and Jinx (57%). There is still hope! Also, Sivir made a small comeback this week, being picked in two games and speed-boosting her team to victory in both.

EU LCS play-offs picks & bans ad-carries

Over in North America, Lucian was way more successful than his European counter-part. Not only did he achieve a perfect combined pick and ban rate of 100%, but he had a mind-blowing 93% win rate, winning 13 out of the 14 games he was involved in, Curse being the only team who lost while having Lucian on their team. Graves was the second favorite ADC for Wildturtle, Sneaky, Doublelift and crew, being played in 7 games. Graves is generally considered “a lighter version of Lucian” having a very similar tool-kit to the Purifier, but with a decreased kiting potential. Despite his recent popularity in solo-queue, he only managed to win 2 out of the 7 games and was forced to settle with a 29% win-rate. Battling for 3rd spot we have Caitlyn and Corki, both with only 5 appearances on the Rift and an equally low win-rate (20%). Ezreal, Vayne, Draven and Jinx also made a guest-star appearance this week, but except for the Loose Cannon, none of them managed to win a game.

NA LCS play-offs picks & bans ad-carries

To sum up all of the above, here is a graph with the win-rates of the most picked champions across both sides of the pond. In first place, Lucian, who keeps dominating the scene and came very close to achieving a 100% win-rate in NA, losing only 1 game out of 14 encounters. In second place, Caitlyn is still searching for a way to increase her win-rate, averaging 33% in EU and 20% in NA, while in third, Jinx is becoming increasingly popular in this new meta, because she scales very well in the late-game and her only weakness is the very early laning phase, which she can just avoid all-together because of the 1v2 lane-swaps. 57% win rate for Jinx in EU and while she only played one single game in NA, to her credit, she managed to win it and secure herself the third spot in our most played champions section 🙂
